Street Shots

THIS WEEK’S PHOTO CONTEST THEME: ‘Street Shots’
Submit up to three (3) images relating to or displaying the essence of the theme. Street photography has a venerable history, going back to Daguerre, Atget, Cartier-Bresson, through Frank, Meyerowitz and beyond. Street photographs are mirror images of our society; images of buildings, people, animals or objects that fill our daily street life, whether urban or not. As our judge says of his earlier New York Street Shots project: “One of our goals is to enable photographers to create images from everyday subjects hidden in plain sight on the streets.” So show us the life on your streets, whether at home or abroad. Show us your best Street Shots! The judge will be looking for images that illustrate the theme in interesting ways that engage the viewer; plus normal judging criteria of: originality and creativity, photo technique and/or quality, and overall artistic merit.

CONTEST JUDGE: Lou Manna is an award-winning professional photographer in New York City whose work has appeared in national advertising campaigns, major magazines, and more than 40 books. Lou worked as a photojournalist (much of that time on The Street) for the New York Times for 15 years before starting up his own studio producing work (including a specialty in food) for a wide range of corporate, advertising, and public relations clients. A former Olympus Visionary, Lou spearheaded the New York Street Shots collaborative photography project that was a daily visual time capsule of NYC with over 15 photographers contributing thousands of photos. He hopes to resurrect that project and continue to lead workshops and urban photo safaris. Visit his website at: www.loumanna.com.

What People Are Saying

"The Alphabetography Photo Challenge was an inspiration for a photographer like me, and winning this contest has brought me too much pride and honor again. And this contest also brought friendship from all the contestants. I just feel that we are not here to compete but to develop talents and gain friends."
