Mono Landscape

THIS WEEK’S PHOTO CONTEST THEME: ‘Mono Landscape’
Submit up to three (3) images relating to or displaying the essence of the theme. Landscapes are a primary form or type of photography. They usually highlight nature but can also include people or man-made features, and they can be cold or lonely or happy or mysterious, as the judge himself explains in his Artist’s Statement. Your assignment is to show us landscapes that caused you to reflect and pause before capturing them. And they should be limited in process to B&W, monochrome, toned, or selectively toned images. The judge, an experienced landscape photographer, will be looking for images that illustrate the theme in interesting ways that engage the viewer; plus normal judging criteria of: originality and creativity, photo technique and/or quality, and overall artistic merit.

CONTEST JUDGE: Tracy Valleau has been photographing for 50 years. His work has been published in “Outdoor Photographer,” “Panorama,” “Best of California,” “Windows of the World” (among others), and has been the subject of several one-man shows. Displays and exhibitions include the Center for Photographic Arts and The Monterey Arts Council at the Sunset Center; the MPC Art Gallery; and the Pacific Grove Art Center and many others. He is a past instructor at Academy of Art University, San Francisco, and he is a member of The Imagemakers. His recent solo show in Pacific Grove, California, was titled “Individual Cases.” For details and to view his work, please visit www.aperturef8.com and this gallery to see more of Tracy’s B&W landscapes.

What People Are Saying

"The Alphabetography Photo Challenge was an inspiration for a photographer like me, and winning this contest has brought me too much pride and honor again. And this contest also brought friendship from all the contestants. I just feel that we are not here to compete but to develop talents and gain friends."
