JUDGE’S OVERALL COMMENTS (+ see individual winner comments by clicking on images below):
“A surprising number of entries for the letter ‘O’ showed a physical O shape, a type of image that is more of a Pictogram, rather than a subject that evokes a word starting with the letter ‘O’. Both types of ‘O’ images are valid entries, and both are represented in the Top 3. Of course, images had to demonstrate photographic skill and artistry to be considered, once the connection to ‘O’ had been established. Special kudos go to people who entered images that had more than one ‘O’, such as Orange Ocean, Old man Observes, Fire Opals and Onyx—nice work! Special compliments also to people who made ‘O’ connections that weren’t Obvious, such as ‘Ornate’ or ‘Obstacle’, ‘Open all locked doors’, etc. Finally, a shoutout to the artists who posted ‘Oligochrome’ and ‘Ordinate’. Photographers need to use both the language of images and the spoken/written language well, and these are great examples. And in addition to the three winners, I’d like to compliment @christineodnes, who posted a photo with sly wit —
’Missing O’. Thanks to all who participated; keep shooting!”
