I’m a new photographer, I actually entered one of Phoozl’s contests last summer and one the number 1 voters pic but since then I have been to busy to apply to many other contests. I’m fully self taught, never took a class but it’s something that would be nice to do. This is a picture I took while out on the streets on my 2nd time Street Photographing ever and I wanted to get a full critique on it. How do you feel is the composition, lighting and so on. I personally enjoy darker tones in my photography so I personally raise my shutter speed if I want low f/stop or raise my f/stop instead if I want more depth but I just wanted to inform that. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.

Hi RaViMi! I remember you from the Alphabetography contests. For your first attempt, this is a very nice image. I would call it more Architecture than Street, as the tradition of street photography usually includes people going things in connection with the street environment, but no matter. Overall, the tones are very pleasing to me with the soft light, as is the sharpness and depth-of-field (as much as I can see on a smaller image). And maybe most importantly, you are telling a story with this photo by comparing old and new, smooth and rough. I see the space between the old buildings as a gateway or entrance to the modern world of the skyscraper. So keep shooting on the street, and eventually try including people and all the crazy things they do. Good luck! (and come back here when you feel like it)

Hi Irada! The bubble shot is interesting although not easy to see what’s going on. But intriguing. The street market is colorful but very busy and hard to focus on anything. Maybe better to simplify. Keep shooting!
NOTE: in Phorums here, best to start a new Topic for your photos.
